     Patrick Demarchelier is a famous fashion photographer who was born on August 21, 1943 in Le Harve, France.  He received his first camera at the age of seventeen and began his career in Paris.  In 1975 he moved to New York City.  Since 1970 he has taken photos for the covers of nearly every major fashion magazine including American, British, and French Vogue.  He has also shot for Rolling Stones, Glamour, Life, Newsweek, Elle, and GQ.  From 1992 to 2004 he worked with Harper’s Bazaar to become their premier photographer.  Throughout his years he has also photographed many advertsing campaigns and high profile celebrities.  Demarchelier was the first non-British photographer to be invited to take pictures of the Royal Family.  He was also referenced in the 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada.

     I am a huge fan and admirer of Demarchelier’s work and often times look to his photographs as inspiration for my own pictures.  I think his images are so full of life and he has shot some of my favorite ad campaigns such as Chanel No. 5 with Nicole Kidman.
